SHHH!

Here are my research notes for the topic "Censorship" which is something I have had to deal with on a personal level, ie: "You can't say (write) that." I have had people telling me to "Shut Up!!!" for so long, how could I research any other topic?

Questions for research:
1. What is censorship?
2. What is the societal impact of censorship?
3. Does the impact differ depending on what nation it occurs in?

Summary:
I learned a bit more about my chosen topic such as the idea of personal censorship. I also became reaquainted with database searching (now called "deep web"). I also came face to face with proof of a certain kind of conspiracy regarding censorship. I realize the only thing standing in the way of effective and productive searching has been money or the stunning lack thereof, which shuts people out of the deep web for lack of ability to buy their way in.

  1. Daniel,
Glad that you have access to the Deep Web now! Just fyi, public libraries have subscriptions through the state library to some databases. Your tax dollars at work-- so once you are out of school you can still get some Deep info. Also, state schools allow private citizens to use their resources, too, so you can go there for Deep Web searching.

You did a great job on the assignment. I have a little feedback on your questions, though. They may need a little reworking before they are "researchable."

What is censorship? is a fact finding kind of question that is good for some background info but not necessarily for a research project.

What is the societal impact of censorship? this question has great potential. You could look at it in a lot of ways, and draw comparisons between countries, cultures, socioeconomic groups, etc. Bringing you to your third question-- Does the impact differ depending on what nation it occurs in?

Keep up the good work, and don't let the them censor you!

    Sue
